Ocean Ridge Residence
Currently under development, design for this beachfront villa in Florida, redefines a traditional plan for a luxury home into an unbound spatial progression from land to shore, intuitively guided by conditions of site and orientation. Not complicated by formally enclosed rooms and circulation corridors, the plan is reconceived as a series of east-west running walls broken up to weave into the landscape. Transparency is preserved along this axis, allowing for strong visual connection to the water from all major spaces and opportunity to open nearly the entire east façade to the exterior. The hierarchy of wall planes responds to the local tropical climate creating framed interstitial courtyards that blur distinction of the true interior and permeate the residence with additional provision for passive cooling.
